- Moving West
- Hello I'm Daniel Boone. Together, me and 30 other people created a westward route. Crossing the Appalachian mountains through the Cumberland Gap in Kentucky. Known as the Wilderness Road one of the many useful and important west routes.

- Hi I'm one of the capitalists that invested in better roads so farmers and merchants could move their goods faster. Of course in order to do this we would charge at "certain points".

- Canals
- Hello I'm Dewitt Clinton Governor of NY and the one that created the Erie canal. Which created lots of profit and income for NY because it was where they sold their moved goods. The success also influenced other states like Delaware, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Illinois to build canals.
- Immigrants also started moving West. This increased the population and the states in the US(by 1819, eight states were created). Even though it was really hard to travel because of the horrible roads.
- The Extension of Slavery, Plus Missouri Compromise

- In 1795 the Landcaster was built which was between Lancaster and Philadelphia. The road was cheap and made of stone, unlike the corduroy roads that were made of logs. Through 1811 and 1850 the federal government created a road that connected Maryland, Cumberland, West Virginia, Vandalia, and Illinois.

- To level the water from the canals, engineers built locks. This even the water by either draining it or adding water into the lock.
- In 1817 Missouri wanted to switch to a Slave State, but because at the time there were only 11 slave states and 11 free states, the North didn't want to unbalance the union or lose power so it wouldn't let Missouri make that transition. Until Maine applied to become a free state, making the Missouri compromise. The states would still be balanced only with 12 states each.
