  • Cultural Era of the 1920's: There was a large impact of the automobile. This was one of the new industries and was the first time there was an assembly line that Henry Ford helped to establish. Now cars were cheaper and not only the rich could buy them, but middle class citizens as well.
  • Strike Three
  • There was the Harlem Renaissance in which there was a rebirth in African American culture and pride in Harlem, NY. Poetry and literature were important forms of expression and Jazz music became very popular.
  • Women can now vote!
  • People are now buying new products and able to go to department stores. They could buy on credit and purchase many different types of electronics. They are also seeing an increase in movie production in Hollywood including many silent films.
  • PARTAAA!!!
  • Sports are becoming very popular during this time period. Some of the more popular sports are tennis, boxing, college football and baseball. Public schools begin to have sports as part of their curriculum.
  • The 19th Amendment was passed which allowed women to vote. Many women also started working on the assembly lines. However, many women had a hard time finding jobs outside of teaching and being secretaries because these had always been considered traditional jobs for women.
  • Many women had short hair cuts, short skirts and dresses and were known to be flappers. They visited speakeasies and liked to dance. They wanted the same freedom as men.
