- How Jung Sees Me
- Freudian slips are thought to reveal a hidden emotion or unexpressed thought or belief. Freudian slips can be seen as slips of the tongue, such as this example of myself accidentally calling my teacher "Mom." According to Freud, this would show I secretly view my teacher as a motherly figure.
- How Rogers Sees Me
- According to Adler's birth order theory, since I am the middle child, I tend to avoid conflict and am very agreeable. You can see in this example, that I would rather not argue with my siblings over what I want to watch and instead would like to just agree with what they come up with.
- How Costa & McCrae See Me
- I think I should ask my mom if I can have a play date with my best friends!
- Hmm, I'm going to text my friends to see if they want to go out to eat with me.
- Jung believed in a concept called the Collective Unconscious. This basically a common bank of universal symbols and images throughout all cultures. In this example, you can see this because I am afraid to cross the bridge due to the universal image of the troll under the bridge.
- How Bandura Sees Me
- This strip represents myself studying and working hard to be the best student I can be. Rogers would see this as me naturally trying to grow and be a better person. His theory is all about people being naturally good and being their best self.
- Costa and McCrae are theorists that are involved with personality traits. They came up with the 5 Factor Method, which has 5 traits that they say can describe a person's personality. One of the traits is being extraverted. They also have shown that the traits of a person mainly remain constant, so this shows that I was extraverted as a kid and continued to be extraverted as an adult.
- This strip represents Bandura's idea of reciprocal determination. Reciprocal determination is the idea that the way we think, behave, and our environment all interact to create our personality. In my life, you can see this because I joined track, which then led me to make friends with people who are in track, which then led me to enjoy track more and care about the sport more.
