stella's story of nelson mandela's life

Storyboard Szöveg

  • On July 18, 1918 our son was born. We are going to call him Rolihlahla (later on he was called Nelson Mandela).
  • I am the oldest and only boy of 4 siblings.
  • My father became sick and died.
  • After my father died, my mother thought it was important for me to have a father figure in my life. So I ended up leaving my mother and going to live with my foster father named Jongintaba.
  • Jongintaba had a son named Justin who kept me company during most of the day. Riding horses was one of the things we would do to keep occupied, but when Jongintaba had a meeting with the other fellow government officials i liked to watch and listen hoping that someday i would be just like him.
  • I dreamed of being a governor. I went to many good colleges and schools to become one. I went to a boarding school in Engcobo, then in 1937 I transferred to Healdtown college. From there I went to Fort Hare.
  • After college i met a woman named Evelyn and we ended up getting married in 1944 soon after we met.
  • A year later our son was born. We decided to name him Thembi.
  • After a little while I joined the African National Congress. It is basically a team to help with black peoples rights.
  • ya
  • In 1950 I became the president of the young league. That was one of the proudest moments in my life.
  • ya
  • A year after I became president of the young league I divorced Evelyn and met a woman named Winnie. Soon after we got married and had a baby girl that we named Zeni.
  • I was arrested in 1871 for sticking up for black people. Soon after a month on my trail the judge sentence me to life in prison.
  • My cell was terrible. There was a flat bed with blankets that were so thin you could see right through them. The toilet was just a metal pan.
  • My life in prison was difficult I had to work, study, and fight very hard to get out.
  • On February 11, 1990, at 4:15 p.m I stepped out of prison. After 18 years it felt good to step out.
  • After many fights, and troubles, in 1993 me and De Klerk (who had been the government official that had been hating on my beliefs) won the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • I ran for president, doing this I had to go against De Klerk. After the long and hard debate i had won, being the first black president of south africa.
  • Mandela for president
  • On December 5, 2013 Nelson Mendela died at his home due to a raspotory infection.
