  • Introduction
  • In the beginning of the story, Sinesio comes home from his job. Faustina would always answer the door for him and they would wait for their children to get home.
  • Rising Action 1
  • Sinesio gets home and his wife sees his lottery ticket. She doesn't like it when he spends money to buy dreams. Sinesio ignores her and sees a letter on the table. The letter is from his friend and he can get him a job to America. He let his wife know that he wants to go.
  • I'm just going to ignore her and read this letter
  • Why do you keep buying those tickets! Throwing money away!
  • Sinesio finishes his last days in Mexico. He tells his family that he is leaving to America and catches a bus. He heard some men talking about the unclaimed lottery prize. Sinesio thought about his ticket and went back home.
  • Rising Action 2
  • Maybe I won?
  • What a coward!
  • I know! Hahaha!
  • He gets home and starts looking everywhere for the ticket. His wife tells him that it's on the front door and he reads the numbers. The numbers on the lottery ticket matched and he realized that he won the prize of 100,00,00 pesos. When he realizes he tries to pry the door because he didn't want to rip the ticket.
  • Climax
  • Seis – tres- cuatro – uno – ocho – nueve – uno – SIETE-DOS!
  • Falling Action and Resolution
  • Sinesio pries off the door and runs to go claim his prize.
  • The major conflict and problem of the story was how poor his neighborhood was. The story shows that they're poor because they didn't have enough money to repair a door so they used a lottery ticket. Also Sinesio wasn't making much money because of his mattress job.
