Testo Storyboard

  • Theme
  • This monkeys paw can grant any wish you desire
  • Really?! Then i am going to make a lot of wishes
  • Symbolism
  • Foreshadowing
  • If you don't want it then let me have it!
  • If you are a sensible man you will let it burn in the fire
  • My god! what are you doing!#160;
  • The theme of this story is to be careful what you wish for and how getting carried away can get you into a lot of trouble
  • Black humor
  • Dont you think i should wish for four pairs of hands for me?
  • The monkeys paw is a symbol of greed and power.#160; You could say that it even corrupts the protagonist to a certain extent by making him get carried away and wishing for things without thinking of the consequences.
  • Repetition
  • Listen, that paw is dangerous, if you know what's best for you then pitch it on the fire like a sensible man!
  • In this scene, the sergeant tosses the monkeys paw in the fire , the Mr. white saves the paw from being burned to which the sergeant replies if you are a sensible man you will leave it there.#160; This foreshadows that the whites will use the paw to wish for something and regret their decision in the end.
  • Irony
  • Alright if you say so.
  • Go on dad, wish for 200 pounds.
  • In this scene, Mrs. White jokes about wishing for four pairs of arms to which the sergeant says to be cautious about the things you wish for.#160; From Mrs. Whites perspective, it is a wholesome joke about her having to much to do around the house, While the sergeant knows that her wish might very well come true especially since they have the monkeys paw.#160;
  • #160;If you must wish for something, wish for something sensible
  • In the beginning part of the story, the sergeant repeatedly uses the word sensible. In the context of the story, sensible means the wisest or smartest choice. From the sergeants point of view, the sensible thing to do is to get rid of the monkeys paw as soon as possible. The repeated use of this word emphasizes the importance of the warnings that the sergeant gives and the potential threat of the monkeys paw.
  • In this scene, Mr. Whites son coerces his father to use the paw to wish for 200 pounds. The Irony of this scene is that the Mr. Whites son is the one who pays the price for this wish later on in the story.
