- I have been good. How has school been for you Cassandra? Have you thought about a career that you are interested since you will be graduating soon?
- Hey auntie its been so long since we talked thanks for meeting me. How have you been?
- Should I tell her about the career that I am thinking about pursuing and what my careers teacher told me about it ? Will she judge me for wanting to go into skill trades?
- WOW that's amazing! I am so happy that you have found something that you are so passionate about. Why don't you tell me about it
- Yes I have decided on a career where I am going to be a hairstylist. I am really passionate about this and I think I can be really good at it.
- That sounds fun! Tell me about the training that is required.
- Okay! Some of the main duties of a hairstylist are trimming, shampoing, conditioning and styling hair for different client.
- That sounds like something you would enjoy since it is so hands on. Do you have a location in mind where you can complete your training for the trade? And also what makes this occupations so interseting and special?
- I asked my teacher about the training and he said that I have to get an apprenticeship training program that also consists of on-the-job and in school training. I have to do this for 2 years.
- That is so amazing. This was a lot of information about being a hairstylist that I did not know before. I have to go now but I hope your dreams come true.
- Yes I am still finding out locations but I really liked a hairstylist program in Ottawa. Its called Algonquin. About your second question I think that a hairstylist is interesting because its a creative job, you get to meet new people, and your schedule is flexible.
