  • DRIVER'S LICENSE and SERVICES CARDBritish Columbia CAN
  • 1. My proposed journey to getting my Drivers License in British Columbia. The first step is getting my L. To get my L, I need to pass the knowledge test and be at least 16 years old.
  • Issued: 2025-Sep-10Expires: 2025-Sep-10
  • Class 5
  • Vancouver BC
  • 2. To pass the Knowledge test for my learners license, I need to get at least 40 out of 50 questions right on the test, ensuring I know the rules of the road.
  • 3. To get to the next level, I will need to have my learners license for at least 12 months and pass my road test. A learners license expires after two years, meaning I will need to retake my knowledge test if I haven't already advanced in two years. While I am a learner, I have to drive with a qualified supervisor and follow the restrictions printed on my license. The L has multiple restrictions. These include having a qualified supervisor aged 25+, restricted hours (No driving from midnight - 5 AM), I have to display my L sign on the back of my vehicle, I may not have any alcohol or drugs in my blood when I drive, there is a one passenger limit, and no electronic devices.
  • For my first submission of this assignment, I am not sure that the class 5 license was viewable for you, as you said that it ended at the 2nd slide (N license).

  • 1. I can take my Class 7 road test as long as I have had my L license for at least 12 months and have stayed prohibition free. The Class 7 road test gets you your N. The test is about 35 minutes and the examiner will take me on a route that tests me, insuring insuring I can drive well.
  • 2. My examiner will also try to notice if I am driving calm and controlled to know if I am ready for my N. They mark you based on the skills you have presented in the test, meaning I will have to focus during the test. Once my test is done, I will be given a paper copy of my results. The Novice (N's) driving restrictions include no alcohol or drugs, you have to display your N sign on the back of your vehicle, no electronic devices, and have a one passenger limit. This lasts 24 months before I can proceed to my class 5 test.

  • 1. I may take my Class 5 road test when I have had my N (Novice) license for at least 24 consecutive months with no driving prohibitions. The road test and examiner feedback take about 35 minutes for the Class 5 road test. The examiner will check my car to make sure everything works and I know where the important parts are. Once my car is shown to be safe, I may start my road test. the examiner would get me to go through a pre-set route and may ask me to spot and point out potential hazards. A few examples of these are emergency vehicles, pedestrians, animals, or uneven roads. There are multiple driving skills I will need to know for this test as well. These include driving through intersections, pulling into traffic, two and three point turns, pulling over and stopping on the side of the road, changing lanes, parking and starting on a hill, backing up, etc.
  • 2. After I have studied for my Class 5 road test and decided I am ready, I will book my road test and complete it, gaining my full unrestricted BC drivers license. This drivers license removes my N restrictions, such as passenger limits, being able to drive in all conditions (Including at night), and having to wear your N display.
  • This is my proposed journey towards getting an unrestricted BC drivers license.
