- After suffering losses from the Boston Tea Party, the King closed Boston Harbor until the colonists were willing to pay for the tea.
- The king also banned any town meetings from taking place in Massachusetts. The colonists decided instead to form the First Continental Congress.
- After the King imposed these acts, the colonists decided to form the First Continental Congress, where they decide to start a new boycott. The patriots also started to form small groups of militias called Minutemen, who would steal supplies such as guns and gunpowder from armories.
