- Winnie decides to run away and sees a boy drinking from a spring.

- Mae, Jesse, and Miles tell Winnie about the spring and how they have lived for 87 years without aging or being able to die.

- The Man in the Yellow Suit goes to Winnie's house and will tell her family where she is for the woods and Treegap.
- Sigh
- Mae hit the man in the yellow suit with the shotgun because he was taking Winnie and was going to use the spring unlawfully.
- The constable said that if the man in the yellow suit dies, Mae would be sent to the gallows.
- Epilogue: Tuck finds Winnie's gravestone two years after she dies.
