The Stamp Acts occurred throughout the October of 1765. The Stamp Act was forced upon the colonists, and taxed things like newspapers, documents, or cards for playing games. This was so England could get their money back from the French and Indian War which costed a lot. The colonists were enraged because England didn't want to help pay.
The Intolerable Acts/Coercive Acts
The Townshend Acts happened in 1767. These acts put taxes on things like tea or paper being imported to the colonists. The significance of this event is that the English Parliament felt that it was ok to tax the colonists without representation.
Common sense
The Intolerable Acts and Coercive Acts appeared in the year of 1774. These acts were a response to what the Massachusetts colonists did during the Boston Tea Party. They were a punishment to those involved.
On January 9th, 1776 the Common Sense was written. Paine's message was to try to be an independent nation in the new world apart from England, and to create a new government. This was also a message to American colonists to push them towards independence from England.
