  • As night dawns upon them, Benvolio begins to fear and tells Mercutio they should leave. He hints towards the idea of Capulets coming for confrontation.
  • Thou must stop this unnecessary violence. The Prince has forbidden such behavior.
  • Tybalt enters and asks about Romeo's whereabouts. Mercutio is willing to fight Tybalt instead and instigates him with degrading jokes.

  • Tybalt sees Romeo enter the scene and asks him to duel. Romeo refuses because he is trying to come to peace with the Capulets.
