Hello Sir, would you mind putting on a mask before entering the store?
Why should I? It is my right to choose if I wear a mask.
By not wearing a mask you are not performing your ethical responsibility
Ethical responsibility?
People have had many different theories regarding ethics and what it means to be "good" throughout history
Ethical responsibility is your duty to follow a morally correct path.
Really? Like who?
Aristotle's teleological ethics prioritize human life being shaped by community. He believed that people should act based on reasoning, and that success and happiness is found when one achieves the correct balance between all virtues and vices.
I think rationality is what separates us from animals.
Someone who is "good" and virtuous performs the distinct act of being human well
Immanuel Kant's deontological ethics states that God exists to allow humans to achieve goodness, and in order to do so humans must be free to make good decisions. He believed that ethics pertains to one's individual morals and ideas.
To be "good" one must act out of the pure motivation of good will. Morals come from within you.
The idea of having a life beyond your own is important. I believe it is impossible to reach "supreme good" in a single lifetime.
There is nothing equal to God or the good of God. Any trace of God in life does not equal his presence as he is always ahead of mankind.
The "good" is the central question of philosophy and there is more to it than just "being".
Emmanuel Levinas' relational ethics focuses on the face and specifically the eyes to form genuine connection through eye contact. He believed that "The Face" of a stranger reveals a lot about a persons morals, and that people should cease the quest for "good" and help the people around them.
