Siužetinės Linijos Tekstas

  • HELP!
  • The soldiers were trying to push through the pain and tiredness that they felt from fighting. In the background, bombs were being dropped but due to the amount of fighting, the soldiers had become 'deaf' to the sound, as though they were used to it.
  • In all my dreams before my helpless sight, he plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning...
  • There were bombs dropping everywhere around the soldiers who were all blood shot and injured. The war had a dehumanising affect on them and because of this, they all carried on 'blind and deaf' to the bombs.
  • The enemy released a toxic gas causing all of the soldiers to panic and rush to reach their gas masks and helmets to save them for the deadly gas. However, during the commotion, one soldier was left behind, yelling out, drowning like a man on fire.
  • Dulce et Decorum Est pro patria mori
  • The soldier that saw his fellow fighter 'drown' in the gas and die had nightmares about the experience and cannot stop his brain from replaying the scene in his mind, leaving him over and over again feeling helpless in the situation.
  • The soldiers had to 'fling' the dead body into a wagon and leave him. This mentally tortured the soldiers even more as they felt so helpless seeing his white eyes and withering face with blood coming from his lungs
  • This is the soldier's plead for Jessie Pope not to encourage young innocent boys to go and fight for their country or for people to believe the old 'lie':Dulce et decorum Est pro patria mori
