Francewanted help from the USbecause they helped the US during the American Revolution, but the US didn't have didn't have any supplies,so they decided to stay neutral. Then the French began attacking US ships.
Barbary Pirates
Britainwanted the US to stop trading with France,but the US needed to for financial reasons, so Britain attacked US ships
Embargo Act
France wanted the US not to trade with Britain, but the US still needed to trade for revenue,so France attacked the ships heading towards Britain,then the US sent 3 envoys to negotiate only to be met by 3 spys, X, Y, and Z.
War of 1812
Tripoli and other barbary stateswanted more tribute from the US, but Jefferson refused to pay,so Tripoli declared war on the US, then a half was was launched which eventually led to a peace treaty.
The US wanted to convince Britain and France to stop seizing US ships,but the efforts failed,so Jefferson set up an embargo between the countries to try to hurt them financially, then accidentally hurt the US more and had to remove the act.
No Trading
The USwanted the British to stop attacking ships and impressing sailors,but the British still disliked the US trading with France,so Madison declared war with Britain, then the US won and Britain stopped attacking the US at sea and with France.
