WHO is that?
In"The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" by Rod Serling, one of the main themes is, mankind is it's own worst enemy. This theme supports the story because Pete Vanhorn had gone to check the other blocks power and on his wayt back he got shot because of charlie. People thought Pete was one of the monsters coming, people thought Charlie was the Alien because he shot an inicent man. This part supports the theme because Charlie got blamed for protecting them because fear made him shoot. Les Goodman got accused of being the monster as well because his car started after everything stoped working all by itself and turned off, This part of the story matches the theme because people were so quick to point at people when they knew that he didn't do it but somehow his car did it by its self. Lastly, Steve was building a radio set that nobody knew about or had seen him working on, so people thought he was the alien because they thought the radio he was building could talk to the monsters. This last part of the story matches the theme because people didn't see him working on it or knew about it which made him suscipuces
