- The main gist of the story is the deadliest earthquakes in South Carolina and around the United States. The worst earthquakes happened in Charleston 1886 and the Union County Earthquake of 1913.
- Carolinians first reported feeling an earthquake in February 1698, and in 2002 South Carolina experienced close to about 180 earthquakes.
- The giant Charleston earthquake of August 31, 1886 is the biggest earthquake in the Southeastern United States. It had a magnitude of 7.3 and a intensity of a X n the Mercalli Intensity Scale of I to XII. To this day there have been hundreds of terrible earthquakes that some still have not 100% recovered from today.
