- Freud created the idea of defense mechanisms. One defense mechanism is regression. Regression is going back in psychological time, retreating back to behaving like we did as a child. Freud sees me like this when I had a rough day and am sad I go into my room and cuddle with my stuffed animals to make myself feel better.

- Rogers created the idea of the actualizing tendency. This is developing our potential to the fullest and trying to be our ideal self. When I go on vacation I like to meditate on the beach so I can reach my ideal self or become the person I wish to be. I am manifesting that I become more genuine and empathetic

- Bandura had the idea of the spotlight effect. The spotlight effect is assuming that people have attention focused on you. I get nervous that everyone is staring at me and what my hair looks like when really they are all paying attention to themselves and not me.
- Karen Horney believes that individuals who experience a lack of love are more likely to socially withdrawal. I socially withdraw from people in a social setting because I experience a lack of love in my relationships with loved ones.
- Carl Jung came up with the idea of synchronicity. Synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence. At one point in my life I was at the same place at the same time as my now boyfriend. This is an example of a meaningful coincidence because our experiences were intertwined and now we create new experiences together.
