- When I read this I was surprised that Montresor would say something like that when he wanted to kill Fortunato but than I realized it was showing him being very deceptive. Being deceptive is misleading from the truth and if he is pretending to care about his health when he wanted to kill him I would say that’s pretty misleading
- “Ha! ha! ha!—he! he!—a very good joke indeed—an excellent jest. We will have many a rich laugh about it at the palazzo—he! he! he! —over our wine—he! he! he!”
- When I read this it really showed how drunk Fortunato really was. You can tell he is because he is extremely clueless at what is going on. Montresor is blocking him in to his death and he thinks it’s just a prank
