On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese made a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan thought that if they took out the war ships in Pearl Harbor then the United States Navy would be crippled. This attack killed thousands of people and damaged or destroyed hundreds of ships and aircraft. This did not break the United States, this cause the U.S. to enter into WW2.

The Yorktown just sunk!!!!!
The Battle of Midway happened between June 4th and June 7th, 1942. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan and started attacking Japan's mainlands. Japan pushed back by attacking the base on Midway Island. The carrier Yorktown fought with Japan's final carrier and both ships sunk. This Battle was a turning point in the war and the first major victory for the Allies.

The Manhattan Project was the research and development of the atomic bomb. On August 6th, 1945 the United States dropped the bomb Little Man on Hiroshima killing tens of thousands of people. On August 9th, 1945 the atomic bomb Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki. Six days after Fat Man was dropped Japan surrendered.
