Permian Period

Hello! I am SONNY the Dinosaur, and I am here to talk about the period that was wiped out before our existence: the PERMIAN PERIOD.
My ancestors had mentioned that this big landmass that we live on called PANGAEA had displayed severe extremes of climate during the PERMIAN PERIOD.
No wonder that the early reptiles back then had thicker and moisture-retaining skins, and evolved from being cold-blooded to warm-blooded animals.
That reptile that I had mentioned are called THERAPSIDS.
Their existence were superior during the PERMIAN PERIOD. They rapidly evolved to become pseudo-dinosaurs and are the roots of the MAMMALS today.
One notable plant that flourished during the PERMIAN PERIOD are the GINKGO LEAVES.
Ginkgo biloba leaves arose during the beginning of the mentioned period (approx. 280M yrs. ago) and are known as herbal medicines today.
But as they said, every kingdom has its disastrous downfall.
The PERMIAN EXTINCTION is the worst extinction event in history, as it wiped out 90% of marine species and 70% of land animals.
My ancestors speculated that it might be caused by extreme volcanic eruptions, or by a major climate change. It might be an asteroid impact, too.
But somehow, I am grateful for that extinction to happen.
It caused a great evolution, giving birth to us dinosaurs.
