Hi there! I'm Rocky. I'm actually not this small, but because of the water my physical formation changed.
Oh, look! We're sinking.
Stratified rocks begin their formation with the process called Weathering. In this process, wind, water, and other natural agents break down rocks and form sediments.
After the process of Weathering, the rock is now being moved to another place. This process is called Erosion. Erosion is the removing of soil, rock or dissolved in one place then transports it to another location.
Then, the sediments, together with the fossils, will settle in a certain place . This process is called Deposition. It occurs when the sediments are deposited on the ground, or sink to the bottom of a lake or ocean.
Then, the deposited sediments will begin to stick one another. This process is called Compaction. Compaction happens when pressure forces sediments together into one rock.
