Product Rule
Hey Casey, guess what I learned in math today!
What?
Prodect Rule
Yep! You got it!
I learned about product rule! It's when you multiply 2 powers with the same base. It's really simple, all you have to do is add the exponents!
Cool! So for example (6^2)*(6^8) is just 6^2+8. So the answer would be 6^10, right?
Quotient Rule
Did you learn about quotient rule in class today too?
Ya it was super fun!
Quotient Rule
Quotient Rule is when you divide 2 powers with the same base. All you have to do is subtract the exponents!
So what's 3^4/3^2?
Power Rule
What's (12^3)^11 equal to?
12^33!
Power RuleThis is when you raise a power to a power - you have to multiply the exponents
Because you have to multiply the exponents 3 and 11. 3*11 = 33. So the answer would be 12^33!
Negative Exponent
Simplify 10^-3 for a free latte!
1/10^3 or 1/1000!
Negative Exponents
A base raised to a negative power is equal to the reciprocal of the base raised to the positive power.
That would be 3^2 because that's what 3^4-2 would equal! Easy right!
The reciprocal of 10^-3 is 1/10^-3, but the power must be positive so 1/10^3 must be the answer. And 10^3 is 1000 so 1/1000!
