Siužetinės Linijos Tekstas

  • What's your take on the death penalty?
  • I believe that banning the death penalty will cause the fall of humanity
  • Wow! that's a pretty big take, what makes you say that?
  • Because the death penalty serves as a punishment made to detetr criminals from commiting crimes so taking it away will cause crime to go up and no one will be punished so people will be more likely to murder another therefore causing the fall of the human race.
  • That is the slippiest slope i've ever heard!
  • What is that supposed to mean?
  • A slippery slope is a logical fallacy that represents illogical reasoning. It is when one asserts that one small first step will lead to a chain of more extreme events and eventualay cumilating in a significant effect.
  • hmmm...
  • An example would be when one believes that if they eat one cookie, they will go off their diet and want more cookies later causing them to gain weight and eventually diabetes!
  • oh wow, that is one slippy slope, I see now how that is similar to my way of thinking about the banning of the death penalty leading to the fall of humanity, that definitely is a reach and my way of reasoning that got me there is flawed.
  • Furthermore, it is impractical to connect those extreme events to the cause because there is no evidence that that cause will lead to such events, and theres no logical way to prove how that would be the outcome
  • You're right, I guess there's no real evidence to prove that banning the death penalty will lead to higher crimes and would result in that exteme outcome, thanks for helping me see that dude!
