I hate Jesus! If I see anybody who believes in him, I will drag them with chains to their death!
Saul encounters Jesus after nearly reaching Damascus. They are later shocked to see that he lost his sight
Who are you?
Saul, Saul, Why are you persecuting me?
I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting, now go to the city, you'll be told what to do
Go. This man is a chosen instrument of mine who will spread my word.
Ananias, Go to a street called Straight, and ask the house of Judas for a man named Saul. He is praying there, and in a vision he saw you put your hands on him and heal him, so go do that.
But Lord, the things he has said about us is horrible. He wants to kill us and he certainly has the power to!
Saul, the Lord has sent me, Jesus appeared to you and has blinded you, so I will fix that. You will regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit, and also baptized.
Thank you so much. I can finally see!
Although Saul may have been questioned for his change in faith, that didn't stop his mission. For the rest of his life, while avoiding being killed by the Jews and Hellenists, he preached the word of Jesus until death.
And Jesus said, Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
