  • Empiricists deny the existence of innate ideas and refused any knowledge that could not be correlated with experience. Empiricism is based on the inductive method by which general conclusions are drawn to something in particular; its explanation is based on Natural sciences. John Locke, George Berkeley and David Hume, philosophers of the XVII and XVIII century, were its creators.
  • One of the most important contributions of the Revolution was the Declaration of Rights of Men and Citizens, proclaiming the equality of all men before the law.It accomplished several things, such as the abolition of the monarchy, the ending of feudalism and servitude, redistribution of wealth, democratic education andthe division between the church and the state.

  • The Industrial Revolution started in England in the XVIII and spread during the XIX century, at the same time in wich Great Britain became the world´s most dominantpower. As a result of industrialization, the economy transitioned into one based on manufacturing products. The working or middle class emerged and capitalism as aneconomic movement started.
  • Positivism emerged from the radical empiricism of Hume who argued that a claim makes sense only if it is true by definition or verifiable by experience, that is to say, that is the application of scientific method to analyze the society.
  • On the other hand, the evolutionary theory developed by the English, Charles Darwin, served as the basis for the English man Herbert Spencer who developed the theory of social evolutionism analyzing society as an organism. Spencer proposed that society passed through different stages of evolution development to achieve a maximum degree, just like nature.
  • It was a philosophical movement of the XVIII century, in which intellectuals used ideas of the Scientific Revolution to examine some aspects of life. Called age of Enlightenment, because the ideas that emerged during this period ended many centuries of darkness and ignorance and this light opened the door for the development of mankind, this movement emerged in Europe and had its peak in France.
