Dwight D. Eisenhower joined the army in 1915. Throughout his military career he severed under several officers/generals. In 1935 he went to the Philippines to help develop their army with Gen. Douglas MacAuthur. On this trip, Eisenhower learned how to work with difficult people(MacAuthur) and grew his leadership skill. In the near future the work here would be very important.

Eisenhower was the supreme commander of Operation Overlord. The invasion of Normandy France shores. This was the largest land invasion ever. The Allied forces needed a foothold in France to free Paris. This was the turning point in the war. Eisenhower planned the mission and made the call to start the operation.

As president, I vow to keep the public informed. Eisenhower held over 200 press conferences over his two terms. He continued the New Deal, focusing on Social Security. Eisenhower made many public departments such as the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. Eisenhower maintained peace with Korea and Russia. He brought economic stability and charm. He was very well-liked among the public.
