  • The Journey Abroad
  • I can't wait until we return back mom, this place looks like a hot mess.
  • What felt like seconds, turned into minutes, as my mother was teaching me more and more about Islam.
  • I arrived in America, along with my mother, at the age of 9. I had left my home in Albania, wondering when I could see it again
  • I know it may be hard to adapt to this new environment, but America is known for its vast number of opportunities.
  • Everywhere we traveled, there were Catholic religious monuments and churches to be seen
  • Wow! Christianity seems to be the predominant religion citizens follow here.
  • This is beautiful. The Christians love devoting their time to support and show their loyalty to God. Is there such a place for Muslims, just like us?
  • We proceeded to enter this church and were amazed by the dim lights and art all over the walls.
  • Yes son! That place is called a Mosque. It is the place of worship in which Muslims pray to Allah, or their God.
  • Islam is a Monotheistic religion, and we fast for one whole month during Ramadan to show our support to Allah, in turn for prosperity.
  • I began to wonder: Was Islam the religion I had my eyes on or did I want to convert to Christianity. These thoughts were present in my head as I started to walk out of the building.
  • Should I even bother to consult my mother about my conflicting opinions Islam?
  • 30 Minutes Later...
  •
  • I began to confess my conflicting opinions on these two religions. Likewise, I also began thinking to myself about Islam, and all of the events I had yet to experience.
  • Islam passed down from generation to generation in my family, and I began to understand that I wanted to keep following Allah and Islam. I was walking home with the idea of passing down Islam to my future family.
  • THE END
