Is freedom overrated ? Wang Mei's point of view

- Wang Mei and Li Cunyuan have known each other for four years. They started to fall in love with each other but they had to be; separated from each others love when Cunyuans Aunt arranges a marriage for Cunyuan , and it is not Wang Mei. This leaves them both devasted.Lets look at this story in Mei's perspective.
- My day was terrible. My dia told me that I should collect water from the well. I had blisters in my feet by the time I got there. When I was done the bucket slipped from my hands , spilling water everywhere.
- Let me help you.
- Cunyuan was funny , and caring. We started seeing each other in secret. I was on cloud nine when I was with him.
- Thank you-You're welcome-I'm Mei-I'm Cunyuan-Nice-Do you want me to walk you home?-Yes, please.
- But one day , Cunyuan gave me news that devastated me. His aunt had arranged a marriage. I was sad and angry. I had to do something.
- Nooooooooooooooooooo!
- I did not care about how rich Cunyuan was , I loved him. I hated the fact that so many people were rich and poor and that people cared about that.
- My child , you do not know what love is, you are too beautiful and wealthy to marry our Cunyuan. Go and find a rich suitor in the city. There is no way we will let you suffer and live in poverty. I'm sorry , dear child.
- Aunt , Uncle, I have known and loved Cunyuan for four years. We were hoping that we would get married and I came to ask if you can change the plans of the wedding.
- I wanted to marry Cunyuan because I loved him. Not because of how wealthy he was. He always managed to make me laugh and smile. When I got the news that a marriage had been 'arranged' I was furious. I believe that love is not something someone chooses for you but your own personal desire. Freedom is being able to make your own choices without people becoming your police and deciding what is best for you.
