Parris asks Proctor a question that he knows Proctor will get wrong, just to get to state a know it all comment.
3. "I think not, or you should surely know that Cain were an upright man, and yet he did kill Abel."

Remorse
"I can only say, sir, that I never found any of them naked, and this man is-"
Parris takes back his claim. He changed over the course of the play and is now regretting everything he has said, and is paying back.
