What is Rhetoric?

Hey Johnny. Have you seen that billboard over there? It is so convincing!
Oh that one? Yeah my teacher was talking about it in class.
Yeah second hand smoke is terrible for kids, but the appeal to logos is what got me.
My teacher did too. She said something about Ethos, Pathos, and Logos.
Mine too. She said that the billboard appeals to pathos to convince us that smoking is bad for your health
More than 8 millions deaths related to tobacco. Now that is a scary number.

I completely agree! Persuasion through the use of logos, pathos , ethos, and even kairos is everywhere.
Ads use Rhetoric all of the time. Through careful choice of words and images people can influence our perspective

Exactly! I wouldn't want to be sucked into buying something I don't need simply because the ad uses rhetoric well.
