- The Franks and the Van Daans go into hiding at the Secret Annex. To survive they have to be quiet during normal work hours. Miep and Mr.Kraler supply them with food.

- SH... don't shout!
- Was that a noise?!?
- An eighth member joins, Mr. Dussel. He and Anne have to share a room and they don't get along . Tension is in the air among all until Anne gives everyone gifts for Hannukkah.
- Falling Action
- Mom?... Dad?... Margot?
- During a robbery downstairs, Peter drops a lamp and they fear the robber hears. Mr.Van Daan is caught stealing food in the night. Anne and Peter share their first kiss.
- Resolution
- WHY!! WHY ANNE... WHY MARGOT?
- The occupants' fear of being discovered becomes a reality. After hiding for 2 years, the Nazis break down the hidden door and order them to pack one bag each.
- Mr.Frank tries to encourage everyone to be calm and brave. He says "For the past two years we have lived in fear. Now we can live in hope."
- After being shipped to various concentration camps, Mr.Frank is the only survivor. He returns to the Secret Annex fifteen months later and Miep gives him Anne's diary.
