- Throughout their 8,000 mile journey, 123 miles were spent in Kansas. They thought it was really beautiful, had a variety of game, deer seemed plentiful, and an abundance of raspberries.

- in 1806 Pike described the land as a desert. Zebulon was the first American to travel the territory by land.
