Autumn Peltier was born on September 27 2004, now she is 15 years old. Autumn Peltier is an Anishinaabe-kwe, a member of the Wikwemikong First Nation and she is an internationally recognized advocate for clean water. Autumn Peltier lives on the Unceded Anishinaabe Territory on an Island in Northern Ontario.
February 22,2019 Autumn Peltier’s aunt Josephine passed away. But through her niece, Josephine’s work and legacy continues. Following Josephine death, Peltier said, "Since she can't do it anymore, I'm going to continue doing it for her.”
Autumn Peltier is a water protector and she has been called a "Water Warrior.’’ She was also named as “ The Chief Water Commissioner” by the Anishinabek Nation.
Autumn Peltier began her work in the year 2015 , when she first attended the Children’s Climate Summit in Sweden, where she shared her story about the sacredness of water and the importance of clean drinking water for Indigenous people in Canada, especially in Ontario.
Since then Autumn has been creating awareness, sharing water ceremonies with young women and girls, participating in sacred water walks that she learned from her great aunt Josephine Mandamin. Her Aunt was the one who initially initiated the Great Lakes Water Walks before Autumn was born.
Water Warrior Award has been presented to Autumn Pelitier on March 20th 2019. Grandmother Josephine Mandamin and her great niece Autumn Peltier were chosen as the year 2019 water warrior award recipients.
On March 22 2019.
She was invited to speak at the United Nations General Assembly for World Water Day. On April 2019 Autumn was nominated for an International Children’s Peace Prize. On September 2019 she spoke at the UN (United Nations) for the Global Landscapes Forum about the importance of water.
Autumn wants be elected as a Prime Minister.
There is a Greta Thunberg in Canada,some people say her name is Autumn Peltier. When Autumn is not travelling throughout the world, she is a regular teenager who loves her pets, instagram and making crafts with her friends -including bracelets and sell them. With that money Autumn helps her local community people who don’t have clean water.
Canada’s Liberal Party has pledged to provide clean water to everyone by the year of 2021. Autumn has spent years on advocating about water protection with First Nations communities, and around the world.
Autumn Peltier is an inspiration teenage, to many people. Autumn Peltier is a determined girl.
