The British have a lot of hatred for the French as the first three wars focused primarily on Europe and then the conflict in the colonies.
The French would provoke the war by building a chain of forts in Ohio river valley. By doing this they would prevent the westward growth of the British colonies. The governor of Virginia hoping to stop the Frenchfrom completing work on Fort Duquesene, he would send a small militia under the command of George Washington. After an intial small victory, his troops surrendered to the french and native american allies, the final war for the empire would begin.
The British would call representatives from different colonies to meet in congress in Albany, New York in 1754 after the recognized the need for a coordinated colonial defense. The delegates from seven colonies which was led by Benjamin Franklin which was a system for recruiting troops and collecting taxes from the multiple colonies for their defense. This was called the Albany Plan of Union. This would never take into effect as the colonies were jealous of its own taxation powers. But, would lead to more revolutionary congresses in 1770s.
In order to drive the French out of Fort Duquesne, General Braddock led a force of 1,500 British regulars and Virginia militiamen out of Fort Cumberland in western Maryland in 1755. As Braddock got closer to the fort, the 600 indian allies and 200 french garrison troops ambushed his force. After these attacks, 450 were killed and 500 were wounded from the british including Braddock, who would eventually die from wounds.By witnessing these defeats this would shatter the invincibility of the British army
The majority of the Native Americans backed the French due to positive relationships with the french colonists. However, many different Native American tribes remained neutral, they fought with the British or would shift sides throughout the war. the Iroquois confederancy would be allies with the British, while the Algonquins, would be allies with the French.
The British would conquer canada by the taking of Louisbourg, surrender of Quebec, and taking of Montreal. With the signing of the peace treaty in 1763 and these victorys, the British would extend their control of North America. through the peace treaty they would aquire French Canada and Spanish Florida.
