  • Haden Edwards was an empresario he moved to texas in 1825 to settle 800 families, then he demanded to be paid for everyone´s land. This made many settlers angry. Then a group who supported Edwards took action and wrote the fredonian declaration of independence on December 21, 1826. People did not like this so they gathered troops to fight on January 1827. It relates to the revolution because it shows texas turning against each other.

  • In 1829 the Mexican government thought that more rebellions would happen like the Fredonian Rebellion, so they sent Mier y Terán to tell them what was happening in Texas. Mier y Terán noticed the more north he traveled, people were “less and less Mexican”. The Anglo Americans were not converting to Catholicism, not speaking Spanish, and trading with the United states. When he returned to Mexico he told them to send down Mexican troops to Mexico. This made the Mexican government take more control of Texas.

No more trade with the United States.The government will keep a close eye on American settlers.Mexican soldiers will be sent to texas to enforce these rules.

  • The law of April 6th 1830 was made after the Mier y Teran report because there were many settlers not agreeing to the terms and conditions of settling in Mexico. This led to the Mexican government to enforce rules to keep settlers in check. All empresario grants are canceled, no more slaves allowed in Texas, and no trade with the United States. This led to Anglo American settlers becoming angry with the new laws and pushing back and disobeying the government.
