Stanzas 7-9
Stanza 1: Poet speaks of what the history books say about her, as a woman, and as woman of color. Despite 'their lies', like dust she will rise. (simile)Stanza 2: Poet questions whether her boldness and cheeky nature upsets anyone (rhetorical question). Compares herself to valuable oil wells (metaphor).Stanza 3: With certainty, just like the sun and moon, the speaker says she will rise (simile). Despite the hate (hyperbole), and insults (hyperbole), she will rise.
