Siužetinės Linijos Tekstas

  • Hey Erick, do you know why the plants is around the fence?
  • Touch/ thigmotropism
  • Yes, I do. This is called "thigmotropism", as the vines grow , they coil around every object they touch. In this case, it shows a positive thigmotropism.
  • Gravity/ gravitropism
  • Hey, kid, do you know why does plant is growing that way?
  • Yes. Plants get affected by gravity, and what causes it is "gravitropism". Plants can respond in a different way. In this case, roots show a positive gravitropism, if they grow downwards; they don't grow against gravity. In the other hand, stems grow against gravity, so they show a negative gravitropism
  • Light/ phototropism
  • Erick, do you know why does the plant is growing close to the window?
  • Yes, actually I do. It is causes by a hormone called auxin. The auxin controls the plant's response to light. It means that if the sun is closer to the window, it shall grow towards it, if it doesn't, it would show a negative phototropism. We should be thankful that ours has a positive phototropism.
