In 1793 the Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney. The invention cleaned cotton of the seeds much more efficiently than man. Cotton became the leading export but this also meant an increase in slave need.
Interchangeable Parts
The Lowell System was invented in 1812 by Francis Cabot. He would hire young women to work for the factories. This is the first time women start to work. Working conditions were poor and strikes happened.
Horse-Drawn Mechanical Reaper
The Telegraph was invented in 1837 by Samuel Morse. It used the morse code. This is a series of long or short pauses passed through wires. It's then translated back to English. It improved communication over long distances.
Light Weight Plow
Eli Whitney created the interchangeable parts in 1798. The idea was to make easier and quicker to manufacture and assemble. This boosted the capabilities of our army because they could make weapons much quicker.
Cyrus Hall McCormick invented the reaper in 1831. It quickly cut the wheat and made it ready for processing. This made harvesting wheat much quicker and more efficient.
John Deere invented this in 1837. Its purpose was similar to the mechanical reaper but it required more human labor. It made the boosted the need for slaves
