Rosa Parks, a seamstress, is coming home after a long day at work in 1955.
Rosa Parks sat down in the 5th row of the bus, the 1st row of the colored section. The bus is filling up quickly.
We must boycott the buses!
As the bus is filling up quickly, it is running out of room. The bus driver tells Rosa Parks to give up her seat for a man. She refuses and the bus driver calls the police to have her arrested.

Rosa Parks is arrested and fined a total of $14.
Martin Luther King Jr. led the movement of African Americans not riding buses in Alabama. This will last for 381 days between December 5, 1955 and December 20, 1956.
Over 40,000 African American are boycotting the buses is Montgomery, Alabama. Protesters are suing other forms of transportation such as walking.
