  • Spaniards arrived in "La Flordia"
  • They came in contact with a chiefdom
  • The Spaniards were attacked, they had weapons, war dogs, war horses, and armored knights. The natives had spears and bow & arrows.
  • Many natives died and even more did after illnesses like small pox and measles were brought from the Spaniards. This made the Mississippian Indian culture collapse.
  • The Spaniards lost a lot of supplies and equipment. Henry De Soto never found gold, making his expedition a failure.
