peasant life

Hi my name is Jamie, I am 11 years old and a peasant boy, I dont go to school because I have to work on the land with my parents.
I live in a small house called a cruck house made of wattle and daub that has a thatched roof and no windows. Our annimals sleep in the house with us and it is very smokey because we have a fire inside to keep us warm.
We eat mainly stews made from root vegetables and other things we can find like berrys and nettles. We eat black rye bread and mainly drink homemade ale as the water is dirty. sometimes on special occassions we eat cheese, eggs and chicken.
We dont have a proper toilet so we have to use a bucket. We empty the bucket in the river but thats the same place we get water from andwash in.
This is my family we wear tunics made from rough wool, my mum wears a gown from the same material. we only have one set of clothes so it gets very dirty and itchy.
