The Sugar act was put in place April 5th 1764. This act put a tax on all sugars. Sugar was used for medicine, molasses, and most cooking. So this taxation became a burden for everyone. The sugar act also stopped incoming trade on rum and cut foreign molasses from 8-6 pence per gallon. This act was repealed in 1766.
Boston Tea Party (Dec 16, 1773)
The Stamp act was put in place by Parliament on March 22 1765. This is an act that took profit and revenue from the colonies by taxing all paper based items. This included Newspapers, Commercial documents, legal papers, and playing cards. The stamp act was made to help with the payments for the troops during the war. The Stamp Act was repealed in 1766.

The Boston Massacre was a street riot that took place on March 5th, 1770. A group of colonist were standing in a group verbally assaulting a group of 8 or 9 British Soldiers. The Soldiers then shot into the crowd killing 5. This became an ongoing battle of who did what. No one truly knows who started the fight to this day.
1st Continental Congress (Sep 5- Oct 26 1774)
The Boston Tea party took place Dec 16, 1773. The tea party was a protest by a group of colonists against unfair taxation. After boycotting and peaceful protests getting nowhere they took matters into their own hands. On this day the colonists gathered together and dressed up as Natives to hide their identity. They traveled to the docks and proceeded to pour out 342 crates of tea into the harbor.

The intolerable acts were a punishment put in place in 1774. This act was made to punish those who participate in the Boston tea party. The Intolerable acts consisted of four laws. A punishment of these acts was having to board British troops. The harbor was also shut down until the ruined tea was paid for.
The first Continental congress took place from Sep 5- Oct 26 1774. The first Continental congress took place as a response to the intolerable acts and taxation on British goods. This congress was made up of delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies. This group of people came together and wrote to the king. When their ultimatum was ignored they came up with the idea to boycott imported British goods.
