In chapter 9, Brian was tiring, but struggling to make a fire. He tried everything, from dead grass, to dead leaves. But when he walked out of his cave in frustration he spotted something. A birch tree! He started peeling the bark from the tree to see if it would work. after some struggling, he realizes he needs more air. So he makes some sparks and blows on it, a fire erupts into a large fire. He needs more fuel.
chapter 10
At first Brian couldn`t leave the fire he`d just created. He wanted to be near the thing he made without help. But the fire needed fuel so he went to get more sticks before he went to sleep. During the night he woke up to some sounds coming from the river. In the morning he found some strange prints in the sand, and started to dig around. In the sand there was 17 eggs. Turtle eggs. Brian was starving so he ate six of the 17 eggs.
chapter 11
In chapter 11 Brian had some work to do. He moved "his" turtle eggs, he got more wood for his fire, etc. When he walked over to the lake and saw his reflection on the lake surface he became depressed because he looked like a completely different person. But on the plus side, he was more aware of his surroundings. But then he saw something in the lake. A fish! That's when he realized he could eat the fish!
In chapter 12, Brian had no luck in catching any of the fish with the spear he just made. He just wasn`t fast enough. He was just about to give up when he got the idea to make a bow and arrow to get the feshies. But he was hungry so he went to get a turtle egg and some raspberry's. But after that he was full. He went to the river to get some wood, but then he heard the whine of a plane! He ran as fast as he could back to his fire to make it big enough to see. But, as soon as it got big, he couldn`t hear the plane anymore. After that, Brian knew, he knew, he was going to be stuck there for ever.
chapter 12
Brian couldn`t get any fish. He just couldn`t hit them. So he gave up and went on a walk. On his walk, he spotted many juicy looking birds and wished he could eat them. He spotted many animals such as the mama bear with her cubs, and the lone wolf on the hill. But Brian was sad. it had been 47 days since he crashed. He wanted to kill himself and tried but failed. But after that he was new. He tried to get a fish but still couldn`t. But then he remembered that water refracts light and that he wasn't even aiming a the fish. So then he aimed just below the fish and got one! Brian was happy.
Brian learned that mistakes can`t be made. He also has learned that food is everything. One night a skunk wandered near him and started to dig up the turtle eggs and he threw some sand at it before thinking. So he got sprayed. The smell lingered for months after that. So Brian learned to better protect himself and his food.
