- On June 28th, Ferdinand went to Sarajevo to inspect Bosina's army, after a meeting with the German Emperor - Kaiser Wilhelm.
- After the inspection, Archduke Franz and his wife, Sofia, went out and drove around Sarajevo.
- On their ride, they were found by a nationalist who threw a bomb at the two, this was by Gavrilo Princip who heard of the visit, along with the nationalist of the Young Bosnia Movement, and decided to assassinate Ferdinand.
- Princip then shot the couple sitting in the car, killing them.He was quite careful with this ,shooting them through the crowd, so he didn't get caught.
