Hi, I am Simon, your medical consultant! How can I help you.
The symptoms started today. But I am not sure if the bite was the reason for this disease, since I went hiking 2 days ago in a grassy area.
I have fatigue, headache, and rashes that look like a dartboard.
After examination, I can conclude that you have : Lyme disease. You came to me at the right time, since you only have the early stage.
Since when did it start?
What symptoms are you feeling?
What is Lyme disease? How did I get it?
Lyme disease is an infection that is transmitted through the bite of a tick infected with a bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi.
Ticks are usually found in grassy areas like the place you hiked in.
How is it treated?
For early Lyme disease, which is your case , a short course of oral antibiotics, such as doxycycline or amoxicillin, cures the majority of cases.
Is it contagious? How can I prevent an outbreak
Thanks doctor, I will try to apply this knowledge to cure myself.
No problem, come back if you are ever sick and need advice!
There is no evidence that lyme disease is transmitted from person to person. To prevent a outbreak from happening, always wear closed, light colored clothing and avoid grassy areas and do not approach animals who the ticks come on like: deer, opossums, squirrels, birds...Also shower thoroughly.
