The main impact of the Compromise of 1850 is that it led to the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 which turned into a big problems for all slaves and blacks.
The Fugitive Slave Law impacted the safety that escaped and free slaves had in the northern free states. A free slave could be accused of being a runaway and they would have to be believed to be one, forcing blacks to retreat to Canada for safety.
The book Unlce Tom's Cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe and brought to light the hardships that slaves and blacks faced in America during those times.
