Romānā Viena trakā vasara ir daudz tēmu. Studenti to var izpētīt, paši identificējot tēmu vai “ aploksnes aktivitātē ” saņemot tēmu, kuru izsekot visā lasīšanas laikā. Tad šajā nodarbībā studenti izveidos grafiku, kas ilustrēs šīs tēmas piemērus no romāna.
