  • The Conference Room Evaluation
  • We just got a spectral analysis. It is an S-type asteroid. Our plan to pulverize it. This thing's mass must be-it's not going to work.
  • Suggestions and Ideas were Unreasonable
  • We can advise a plan to make it stop!
  • We can blow it up!
  • None of these ideas will work.
  • We can push it sideways
  • We can move the earth out of the way!
  • After some reasoning, Yuri's idea was the best one.
  • You want to use antimatter. Well so many things could go wrong....Okay. We're launching the high-flux antimatter.
  • Well we could use antimatter. There prototype in Russia...
  • Yuri was called to a meeting at his workplace for an issue with the asteroid. They examined the asteroid closely and presumed that it had more metal than they thought. They would have to recalculate their calculations and summon another plan for the asteroid.
  • Yuri met with sources to help launch the laser
  • Multiple ideas were suggested but they could not come to a conclusion. Every plan would not work considering the mass of the asteroid. At this point, they decided to gather ideas not of how they could survive but of how they could save the life of the future of mankind.
  • The Impact Day
  • The telescope, it looks like they can't give us a result.
  • There were many ideas pitched throughout the day. Yuri struggled to make his idea heard. People listened to what he had to say and tried to find many fatal possible outcomes. They reasoned that Yuri's idea was the best yet. The only problem with this is that no one would help him. He would have to do the calculations himself since no one knew about antimatter.
  • The results of The Impact Day
  • Hooray for antimatter!! Hooray for Yuri!
  • Though Yuri is doubted, the programmers still give him a chance. Yuri stays for days at NASA going over his calculations but has 2 options. His first option is to position the antimatter so that it only rips a chunk off the asteroid and it will still hit. His second option is to position the antimatter directly towards earth, it is risky but it might work. No one listens to him about his second idea so he decides to change the results to his second idea last minute behind his boss's back.
  • There are 2 sets of information. Work o n the second one because this is the one we will most likely use.
  • Ok can you explain this to us we can't understand Russian.
  • Yuri tries to overcome self doubt of him constantly contradicting his decision of changing the results. The impact moment arrives and at first it seems as if the antimatter doesn't work.
  • "It just kissed and went by."(Kennedy 278) People started to value Yuri's work and Yuri was appreciated and valued. People truly understood the value of listening to others and how that can possibly save lives and in this case, it did.
