This where Jack decides to have an alter ego named earnest to escape the strict society he lives in and travel to different places such as London to enjoy himself with no pressure of society's standards .

Algernon's family only worried about the latest trends and fashion.
The scene shifts to Algernon's childhood and how he was raised in a very lavish household. Algernon is quickly impacted with his family's strong interests in trends and fashion however in a way he feels trapped by all these expectations he has to follow.
